Welcome to the official blog of Joanna Neary, where you can catch up on Jo’s bewildered world past, present and looming. Mainly, this blog consists of scanned pages from her sketchbook with a running commentary, dashed off between duties, work and other hobbies. As well as banging on about art, there’s also past gigs, and music, such as the one about being interviewed for Prog Magazine in 2019, which led to some delightful exchanges with fellow nerds. It was all very civil, even when Jo had to admit she’d got a Frank Zappa fact wrong.
Interesting article in the Guardian today. I usually avoid the papers, I can’t remember why I was distracted into reading this today. It’s about children and screen time, and it’s sort of common sense. The stupid things we do in our own homes, like trying to do exercise with an audience. Shabby Shit, I mean […]Read more
Kondo thoughts continued. I really do think I’d be better at throwing out other people’s stuff, but that’s not allowed, apparently. Anyway. Heather Minor and me have been having great fun doing our first ever podcast. It’s about creativity, how […]Read more
I’ve done some drawings in response to Marie Kondo’s technique on Netflix… The rest is the rammel I’ve been sorting, after Kondo-ing my drawers. Does this spark joy for you? Or do you think I must be a hoarder? Some of this stuff is from the Riot Grrrl days… (sticker by Bikini Kill circa 1992. […]Read more
Here are some pen tests and sketches I’ve been doing, plus a bonus shot of my Datsun Sunny pencil case which was 50p in a charity shop in Oldham. That’s someone else’s oil on it and I kept that tea stain for sentimental reasons (in other words, I’ve got better things to do, like trying […]Read more
On this day, the Queen enters the Guinness Book Of Records for waving in a stilted manner while some people cheer. I’m not a fan but I was once, for my own nefarious means… The Nations Nan and My Master Plan My plotting started when Prince Charles came all the way from Royal Buckingham Palace […]Read more
