3000 Light Years From Doing The Ironing

Celia Jesson, repressed middle-class Milton housewife, with a tempestously romantic inner life, is one of multi-award winning character comedian Joanna Neary’s best-loved creations, and host of this brand new comedy show.

As the marriage rate in the UK declines, Celia and a group of willing volunteers from Lower Upping explore the history of relationships, from the dawn of early man, up to the present day. Celia thought she was the perfect wife, but in her older age, she’s not too sure.

When Celia and husband Fred celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary in 2019, and found they had bought each other exactly the same hypoallergenic shower cap, it caused Celia to revaluate her life. Celia had always thought she was the perfect wife and had the perfect marriage but, in her older age, she isn’t too sure. Is there more to life than sitting together making a scale model of the Trans-Siberian Express from discarded Waitrose Community Matters tokens?

This highly original talk includes advice on Compromises, Dropped Hobbies, Tidying Up and ‘How to Spice Up Your Relationship’, plus an interactive audience quiz ‘Which Celebrity Couple Are You Part Of?’ With original true stories, stand up, songs and dance routines by swingers. Will it end in divorce, Bjork? Or polygamy?
